PREVENTATIVE AND FAMILY DENTISTRY

“Brush, floss, rinse, repeat.”Anonymous

Les Belles NYC teaches our patients how to incorporate preventive dental measures into their everyday routines in order to promote vibrant oral health for years to come.  Preventive care is the best line of defense against health complications that can arise down the road. While a lot of research continues to be done highlighting the connection between mouth and body health, many people still tend to neglect their overall oral health. To protect your family and yourself, it is vital to start employing those simple and inexpensive dental habits that will pay huge healthy dividends in the form of healthier teeth and healthier bodies.

COMPREHENSIVE EVALUATION/ORAL EXAMINATION

With general dentistry, an oral exam involves a full inspection of the mouth as well as the head and neck. Using digital radiographs and other diagnostic tools, we can pinpoint any cavities, gum disease, or other abnormalities that might lie within your mouth. Our diagnostic tools also allows us to detect changes in prior dental work and to ensure they are in optimal condition.

CLEANING (DENTAL PROPHYLAXIS)

Also known as dental prophylaxis, cleanings involve the removal of dental plaque and tartar that can accumulate on the teeth.  Plaque and tartar are notoriously difficult to remove even with through regular brushing and flossing. Special ultrasonic instruments are used to remove these stubborn deposits and stains.

DIGITAL RADIOGRAPHS

Digital radiography is a form of X-ray imaging used instead of traditional photographic film. Digital radiography produces larger photos to better source hard-to-see cavities.  Digital radiography requires very low levels of radiation exposure to produce the same quality image as film radiographs (digital x-ray gives 70% less exposure to radiation than traditional x-rays). Digital radiography is also very green and environmentally friendly, it completely eliminates the need for developers and fixer solutions which reduces chemical waste significantly.

ORAL CANCER SCREENING

The goal of oral cancer screening is to identify mouth cancer in its early stages when there is a greater chance for a cure and instating preventive measures. During every exam, we screen our patients for any suspicious lesions that might develop in their mouths.

GRINDING AND CLENCHING

With stress on the rise, it is no wonder that more and more dentists are finding evidence that their patients are grinding and/or clenching their teeth during sleep. Teeth grinding can lead to chips developing at the edges of teeth and micro-fractures which can have negative long-term effects on tooth sensitivity, gum recession, abfractions and bone support in the jaw.

Very friendly staff - no wait time at all; Dr. Huang was very friendly and informative, walking me through everything in layman' s terms. Lastly, office is centrally located, right next to Grand Central Station and very accommodating in terms of available hours.

The most pleasant dentist visit i have had to date. Short wait times, super friendly staff, pleasant and clean looking office overall. Dr Huang sat down and thoroughly examined my teeth and explained my xrays and any questions i had. Cleaning was thorough and painless(have never been able to tolerate the cleanings before). Overall great dentist experience. Definetely recommend to everyone and anyone.

My visit to Dr. Huang's office could not have gone smoother! She and the entire staff are incredibly friendly. She really does care about her patients - she took the time to explain my xrays to me, giving me care tips and warnings along the way. Most dentists scrape your teeth until they bleed and then herd you out the door. Also, they're open on Sundays which is a HUGE win for those of us with demanding jobs.

I waited less than 5 minutes to be seen by Dr. Huang which never happens. She was really nice, thorough in her examination, and made me feel really comfortable. She was able to answer all of my questions and addressed a problem I was having that was never previously acknowledged by my former dentists.
