- Emergency teeth cleaning
You’ll need to consider what type of dental emergency you’re experiencing. There are steps you can take immediately while you make your way to a dental office that offers emergency dentistry.
Toothaches
Thoroughly rinse your mouth with warm salt water. Consider using a natural alternative when rinsing. Myrrh, German Chamomile, Peppermint, Clove and Tea Tree oils added to your warm rinse can help relieve some of the pain and discomfort you are experiencing. Remove any lodged pieces of food with dental floss. If you have swelling due to your ache, apply a cold compress to the outside of your mouth.
Chipped Or Broken Tooth
Save any part of your tooth that you can. Apply gauze to any areas that are bleeding until the bleeding stops. Apply a cold compress to the outside of the mouth closest to the place where the chipped tooth is located in order to keep swelling down and to relieve pain.
Knocked-out Tooth
Keep the tooth, if possible. Hold it by the crown (the part that is exposed in the mouth). Do not rinse or scrub the tooth so you don’t remove any attached tissue fragments. If possible, try to gently put the tooth back in place, but don’t force it. If this is not possible, place the tooth in a small container of milk or keep it in your mouth in between the gum and cheek or under your tongue. Get to a dentist within 1 hour, teeth re-implanted into their socket within 1 hour has the highest chance of being saved.
Partially Dislodged Tooth
To relieve pain, apply a cold compress to the outside of the mouth or cheek in the affected area. Gently rinse with natural pain relievers such as Myrrh, German Chamomile, Peppermint, Clove and Tea Tree oils. Get to the dentist as soon as possible.
Abscess
An abscessed tooth is due to an infection that has occurred around the root of a tooth or in the space between the teeth and gums. See a dentist right away to get the right treatment plan to fight the infection and prevent further damage.
